Adapting healthcare facilities to meet the evolving needs of patients and providers is crucial to extending the lifespan of your facilities. A recent article in Healthcare Design by Linaea Floden shares some key design strategies that can help. Here are some highlights:- Space Versatility: Designing flexible spaces allows healthcare facilities to seamlessly adapt to new technologies, procedures, and patient care models. Embracing versatility ensures that our healthcare spaces are future-proof and capable of meeting the evolving demands of the healthcare industry.- Shell Space: The concept of shell space is a game-changer. It provides the opportunity to create adaptable environments that can be easily modified to accommodate future needs. - Consolidation of Services: Streamlining services not only enhances efficiency but also optimizes the use of space and improves patient experience. As Linaea says, while we don't have a crystal ball to predict the future, by implementing these design strategies, we can build healthcare spaces that are resilient and adaptable to the ever-changing landscape of healthcare. What else would you add to this list? Who doesn't love walking into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility? #Innovation in design for #HealthcareFacilities is the number one request of today's #MedicalStaff and patient. Debra Levin outlines some great points to consider as we look to integrate our senior living facilities with the changing times.1. Challenging the current standards, belief systems, and solutions takes work, but we can't move forward without it.2. The design and configuration of facilities haven't changed much time over. Architectural design has come a long way and should be incorporated into patient space.3. For innovation to spark and grow, dialogue is vital. Let's ask the right questions and implement patient needs into designs. Our patients, residents, medical staff, and visiting family and friends need places and spaces that are user-friendly, welcoming, inviting, and make their jobs easier. #HealthcareDesign
